Approve an Induction

This article explains how to approve an induction in the NextGen UK interface. Use it when a worker has submitted an induction and it is waiting to be reviewed and approved by a host before the worker can be treated as inducted.

What this means

  • Approving an induction is the step where a host reviews a worker’s submitted induction and confirms it meets site requirements.
  • Depending on your setup, you may also be able to reject an induction or request a revision instead of approving.

When you’ll use this

  • A worker has submitted an induction and it is showing as pending approval.
  • You need to confirm the worker’s details, answers, and uploaded evidence are correct before allowing them to work.
  • A worker has revised an induction and it needs to be re-approved.

Step-by-step

Common issues

I don’t see an approve button

What to check

  • Whether you have the correct permission to approve inductions

What to do

  • If you can view the induction but can’t action it, escalate to a company admin or the assigned approver role for that site

The worker revised their induction — do I need to approve it again?

What to check

  • Whether the changes were made by the worker (not a host)

What to do

  • Yes, worker revisions typically follow the normal approval workflow and require re-approval

I need the worker to fix something instead of approving

What to check

  • Whether your workflow supports Reject or Request Revision from the induction review screen

What to do

  • Use Request Revision if you want the worker to make changes and resubmit
  • Use Reject if the submission is not acceptable and should not proceed (the worker will have to resubmit the whole induction form again)

Why this matters

  • Induction approval is a key compliance control that confirms workers have provided the required information and evidence before working on site.
  • A consistent approval process reduces risk during audits and incidents.
