Deactivate a Site

Deactivating a site marks it as inactive, so it no longer appears as an active site in day-to-day management views. This is typically used when a site has finished, no longer requires updates, or should be removed from active reporting.

What this means

  • Deactivating (archiving) a site makes it inactive and removes it from “active” site lists and filters
  • Once a site is deactivated, you should expect that you can’t continue managing or changing site data in the usual way

When you’ll use this

  • A project has completed and you no longer need the site to show as active
  • You want to clean up reporting and views by removing old sites from “Active only” filters
  • A site was set up incorrectly and you need it out of active use (without deleting the account)

Step-by-step

Common issues

I can’t see the option to deactivate a site

You may not have the right permissions.

What to check

  • Confirm you are a Company Admin or have Site Manager access for that site.

What to do

  • Ask a Company Admin to deactivate the site, or update your access so you can manage that site’s settings.

The site is still showing in my site list

Some views only hide deactivated sites when an “Active only” filter is enabled.

What to check

  • Look for an “Active only” filter or an Active/Inactive toggle in your Sites list.

What to do

  • Turn on the “Active only” filter to hide inactive sites, or switch your view to show inactive sites if you need to find it again.

I need to make changes to a deactivated site

Deactivated sites are typically locked down to prevent further changes.

What to check

  • Confirm whether the site is deactivated and whether edits are blocked in your setup.

What to do

  • If changes are required, contact your internal Breadcrumb admin team to discuss reactivating the site or the best path forward.

Why this matters

  • Keeps your active site list clean and easier to manage
  • Reduces confusion for admins and site teams by removing old projects from day-to-day workflows
