Edit an Existing Form
Use this when you need to update an existing form in a customer’s Classic portal, such as changing the form name, adjusting settings, or editing the questions. You’ll usually do this after a customer requests changes or when you’re fixing a setup issue.
What this means
- Editing an existing form updates how the form appears and behaves going forward (for example: the form name, button title, and other form settings).
- You can also update the form’s questions by opening the form editor and making changes there.
When you’ll use this
- A customer wants a change to an existing form (wording, required fields, new questions, removing questions).
- You need to correct a mistake (spelling, incorrect form name/button title, wrong configuration).
- You’re asked to adjust form settings (for example: approvals, notifications, or other form-level options).
Step-by-step
Common issues
Changes don’t appear after saving
-
Check: Make sure you saved successfully and didn’t navigate away before saving completed.
-
Do: Refresh the page and re-open the form to confirm the saved state.
Edited the wrong form
-
Check: Confirm the form name and type match what the customer requested (some portals have multiple similar forms).
-
Do: Revert or correct the change on the incorrect form, then edit the intended form.
Form should be available but isn’t visible to users
-
Check: Whether the form is inactive, or restricted by how it’s configured (site vs company scope, or other setup rules).
-
Do: Set the form to active (if appropriate) and confirm the configuration matches the customer’s intended rollout.
Why this matters
- Keeping forms up to date prevents confusion on site and improves the quality of captured information.
- Correct form settings reduce rework and avoid operational risk from outdated or incorrect processes.
