Host Check-In a Worker

This article explains how a site host can complete a check-in on behalf of a worker using the Attendance feature. It is useful when a worker is unable to check in independently, for example if they do not have their phone ready, are new to the site, or experience an issue during check-in at the gate.

What this means

  • Host check-in lets a host create an attendance check-in for a worker.
  • It’s a backup method to get someone on-site in the system when self check-in (QR scan or location check-in) isn’t possible.

When you’ll use this

  • A worker arrives but can’t scan the QR code.
  • A worker is having trouble checking in on their own device.
  • A worker needs to be checked in quickly so the site team can keep the line moving.

Step-by-step

Common issues

Worker can’t be found in the list

What to check

  • Confirm you’re in the correct jobsite
  • Check spelling and try searching by partial name
  • Confirm the worker is registered under the expected subcontractor/company

What to do

  • If the worker is genuinely not in the directory for that site, you may need to add them first (based on your site process) before you can check them in

Host check-in option not available

What to check

  • Your permissions (host/company host access is typically required)

What to do

  • Ask your site admin to confirm your access level, or have someone with the right permissions perform the check-in

Check-in doesn’t complete

What to check

  • Whether the worker is blocked by required onboarding/compliance steps configured for the site

What to do

  • Complete the required steps (or follow your site’s escalation process) and try again

Why this matters

  • Ensures your live attendance list is accurate for safety and compliance
  • Helps the site team keep people moving even when self check-in isn’t working

Need help?
