Modify Induction Visitor Types
Visitor types determine which people an induction applies to, such as Employees, Subcontractors, or Visitors. Use this when you need to check why an induction is not appearing for the correct people, or why it is appearing for people it should not apply to.
What this means
- “Limit visitors based on types” decides which visitor types must complete that induction.
- If a visitor type isn’t selected (or isn’t enabled on the site), the related inductions may not appear during check-in.
When you’ll use this
- A worker says an induction isn’t appearing during check-in.
- A visitor-only induction is incorrectly appearing for subcontractors/employees (or vice versa).
- A site has extra visitor types (for example, Labour Hire) and they need to be included/excluded from inductions.
Step-by-step
Common issues
Induction isn’t showing up for a user at check-in
What to check
- The user selected a visitor type that isn’t included in the induction’s “limit by visitor type” list.
- The site doesn’t have the right visitor types enabled, so the user can’t even pick the correct one.
What to do
- Update the induction to include the missing visitor type.
- Then confirm the site has those visitor types enabled (Sites > Manage Site > Visitor Types), and retest check-in.
Visitor Induction is showing for subcontractors/employees
What to check
- The induction is limited to multiple visitor types (or not limited at all).
What to do
- Set “Limit visitors based on types” to Yes and select Visitor only (for Visitor Induction), then save.
User can’t select the right visitor type on site
What to check
- Visitor types aren’t enabled at site level, or some specific visitor types are not turned on.
What to do
- Enable visitor types on the site and select the relevant options (Sites > Manage Site > Visitor Types), then try again.
Why this matters
- Ensures the right induction appears for the right people, which prevents check-in delays and avoids incorrect compliance records.
Need help?
If you’re unsure which visitor types should be included, check with the site team/GC site team on what options they expect workers to choose during check-in, then match the induction’s visitor-type limits to that setup.
